Types of Word Games for Kids!

Word games for kids are the best way to teach them the various facets that life has to offer in a fun way! If you look at it, words surround kids during their waking states.  As children grow up they gradually learn to form coherent sentences from the ocean of words they come across.  In short, word games allow for a child to familiarize himself/herself to the various kinds of words that exist.
Word games for kids come in many different varieties, shapes and kinds. Also, they are designed considering many age groups.
Let’s take a peek at some types:

  • Clockwords: Set in Victorian era London, this game is all about the ability of using your spelling and vocabulary skills and testing your power of language. This game is based on Flash.

  • The Enigma Device: This is based on the famous decoding device from World War 2. This is a Java based game. It involves a histogram that represents letter frequencies and a scrambled humorous quote that has to be decoded. One- letter substitutions are to be used to unscramble the code. This is rather a complex game that is used by older kids,

  • Word Association: This game is important for activating your gray cells (if you have any that is…). This game belongs to that category of word games for kids that are responsible for developing your associative and reference skills. It involves for the player to think of any similar word to the computer generated word on the screen. The basic intention is to play in a ping-pong sort of way until either one breaks the chain and loses a point!

  • Verbotomy: This game creates a word for an explanation. The system will give you a definition and a cartoon based on which you have to create a word. It involves reading the definition, creating and saving your new word, and then voting for your favorite word.

  • Scrabble: This is the most famous among all word games for kids. Two to four players can play this game on a 15 * 15 grid. At the time of their turn, each player must make a word using any of the seven tiles in front of them, which must conform to what already is on the board.

As you can see, the above list is not exhaustive in any way.  There exist a myriad of word games for kids that are thrilling as well as equally enchanting!
